The Children’s Museum’s mission is to provoke lifelong experiential learning and innovation among children, adults, and their communities. We do this by offering hands-on fun with science and nature for younger children, their caregivers, community organizations, and schools. At the Museum and in classrooms throughout Connecticut (and beyond), we encourage children to become creative thinkers and lifelong learners. Children engage in our interactive demonstrations, workshops, multi-sensory exhibits, wildlife sanctuary, and other special events. Our unique Children’s Museum Preschool, located within our West Hartford campus, integrates science experiences into early childhood learning. Nearby Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton offers animal and environmental exhibits, nature programs, birthday parties, scout activities, concerts, hiking, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and is home to our Wildlife Clinic.
One free with each paid admission with a maximum four free admissions. The Children’s Museum is in an older building with a number of stairs. The building is grandfathered and does not require accessibility. The museum’s temporary space is not handicap accessible and strollers are highly discouraged.

Roaring Brook Nature Center was founded in 1948 by Canton resident Una Storrs Riddle and was originally known as the Canton Children’s Nature Museum. In 1964, as a result of a bequest to the State of Connecticut, the adjacent 100-acre Werner Farm became available to the Nature Center as a wildlife sanctuary and outdoor classroom. A new building in 1966 provided larger exhibit space and allowed for expanded programming opportunities. In 1973, the Nature Center became affiliated with The Children’s Museum (formerly the Science Center of Connecticut), providing members with a wider range of programs and services for all ages. A large renovation was completed in 2018 to provide an additional classroom, a new front entrance, a wildlife rehabilitation clinic, turtle ponds, and bird of prey enclosures.
One free with each paid admission with a maximum four free admissions.
