About the Museum

Slater Memorial Museum serves Norwich Free Academy and its community by fostering inquiry and exploration, celebrating the richness and diversity of the human experience by collecting, preserving, and interpreting a regional and global collection of art and material culture.

Slater Memorial Museum features several permanent exhibition galleries showcasing artwork and material culture from around the world. From its inaugural exhibition of plaster casts first unveiled in 1888 to works by local artists and global masterpieces, the museum invites you to experience its world-class collection under one roof. Exhibitions from the permanent collection are displayed in the main galleries, while special rotating shows throughout the year can be found in the Converse Art Gallery and the museum's mezzanine rotating gallery.
